Job Title: Locum Speech and Language Therapist – Charing Cross Hospital
Banding: Band 6/7
Location: Charing Cross Hospital, London
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 months
Salary: £24.00–£31.00 per hour
Working Hours: Full or part time
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the team at Charing Cross Hospital on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist to work within a specialist Head & Neck caseload, providing high-quality assessment and intervention to patients with a range of communication and swallowing needs.
The role is available for an immediate start and will run for an initial period of 3 months, with both full-time and part-time hours considered.
You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, using your clinical expertise to assess, manage and provide tailored interventions for patients across the Head & Neck caseload.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties associated with Head & Neck conditions.
- Develop and deliver individualized treatment plans based on patients’ clinical needs.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure effective and coordinated patient care.
- Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy input across the Head & Neck caseload.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in relevant multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions and clinical reviews.
- Provide appropriate advice, education and support to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals.
- Work in accordance with HCPC and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) standards and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Previous experience working within an acute hospital setting.
- Relevant experience managing a Head & Neck caseload.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive, professional and patient-centred approach to clinical practice.
