Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 Months
Looking for a rewarding AMHP role where you can make a real difference at the point people need support most? Join our small, dedicated team working within the Urgent Care Pathway, partnering with healthcare professionals across Leicester's hospitals. This unique opportunity offers a blend of office, hospital and home-based working, giving you the flexibility to develop your expertise while helping shape and grow an innovative service. This is a full time, fixed term post working 37 hours per week (for 12 months). Primarily this will be Monday to Friday however, some weekend work may be required.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Adult Social Worker/AMHP, you'll provide a specialist Approved Mental Health Professional service within the Urgent Care Pathway, including the Liaison Mental Health Service. Working as part of a small, dedicated team, you'll collaborate closely with mental health nurses, consultant psychiatrists and acute hospital colleagues to support people experiencing mental health crises and ensure they receive timely, person-centred interventions.
You'll use your professional expertise to provide advice, guidance and consultation on the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, safeguarding and wider adult social care legislation. Alongside multidisciplinary partners, you'll undertake Mental Health Act assessments, make well-informed and defensible decisions, and help ensure the rights, wellbeing and safety of some of the most vulnerable people in our community are upheld.

What You’ll Need
You'll be a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) with a passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred support within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. You'll thrive working alongside health colleagues from a range of professional backgrounds, building positive relationships and contributing to effective decision-making across services.
We're looking for someone who can balance collaboration with confidence and autonomy, using sound professional judgement to make clear, defensible decisions in complex situations. You'll be motivated to help shape and develop this evolving role, bringing fresh ideas and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You'll also need a valid driving licence and the flexibility to work beyond standard hours when required, including supporting the daytime AMHP rota and occasional weekend working as agreed.
