The Adults Invoicing Team
The Adults Invoicing Team is part of the wider Finance team and works within Adult Social Care in Dorset. We work hard to ensure that providers are paid in a timely manner for the care they have delivered, that service users are billed correctly and that the data in the system is accurate. The role will bring out a range of skills in the successful candidate, showing their ability to work as part of a supportive team, to liaise with both providers and the public and enter data accurately into the computer system. As you grow into the role, you will start to investigate and resolve queries received from both providers and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities Are Detailed In The Job Description.
The team works flexibly, mostly from home and sometimes from County Hall in Dorchester. This is a very varied role offering great experience in a wide range of procedures, including purchase ledger, raising invoices and liaison with the core Finance team. You will be communicating both by email and on the phone with colleagues internally to the Council and with providers and members of the public.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You need to be a very organised, self-sufficient person, able to manage your own workload. Although full training is given and support is always available, the postholder will be largely expected to manage their own time. This is a very busy role with communication and accuracy key, both internally and to the public, whether by email or phone call.
