Advanced Care Practitioner in Gynaecology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Care Practitioner in Gynaecology to join our team of Advanced Practitioners within the Surgery and Families Division. You will work in the Gynaecology Team across all 3 sites within the Trust; Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and The Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The post holder will support the development of the expanding Gynaecology service, through nurse led clinics.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role blends direct, higher level clinical care with education, management activities with a focus on Governance and as such the post holder is expected to build working relationships across the local health community.
  • The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary Gynaecology team.

Role Expectations

  • To act as an advanced autonomous practitioner, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge whilst participating in direct evidenced based patient care.
  • To undertake health assessments; diagnosing, treating and discharging patients.
  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Advanced Clinical Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice.
  • Provide support within the team and act as role model and resource, encouraging and developing a high standard of clinical skill and improving patient outcome.
  • Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, researcher, clinical advocate and implementer of clinical governance.

Locations

We operate from three main hospitals:

  • Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow
  • The Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)
  • Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal

Additionally, we have a number of community healthcare premises including:

  • Millom Hospital and GP Practice
  • Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe
  • Ulverston Community Health Centre

Hospital Services

  • FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
  • WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
