We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Integrated Mental Health team with an element of shared care across the wider team at HMP Wakefield, a category A prison in Wakefield.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Mental Health) will be a patient-facing, non-managerial role and play a pivotal role in delivering high quality, evidence based mental health care within the prison environment.
Exciting opportunity to develop in the prison, PPG pathway training and development offered, parking on site.
Hours
Working 37.5 hours a week, either working 4x long days 8-6 or 8-4 Monday to Friday.
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £66,792 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Provide advanced assessment, formulation, diagnosis, and management of individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions, including severe mental illness, personality disorder, trauma related needs, complex dual diagnoses.
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and a culture of reflection and learning, by pro-actively leading and motivating the team. You will support and work alongside clinical leads and team members to deliver training sessions to healthcare and prison staff on mental health, risk, trauma, behaviour management.
- Participate in internal and external inspections, reviews and professional meetings which will drive quality improvement and contribute to service transformation projects within the mental health pathway
- Work alongside the clinical lead to contribute to service development, provide clinical leadership across pathways, and support the delivery of trauma informed, person centred, and safe care.

Qualifications required:
- Registered Nurse – Mental Health, with current NMC registration. We will consider applicants from other professional disciplines who can demonstrate experience of working with patients with complex MH conditions
- Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
- MSc in Advanced Practice
- Experience of working within mental health services, ideally in secure mental health, crisis, acute, community settings and good knowledge of the MHA
- Understanding of risk management, self-harm prevention, suicide prevention, trauma-informed care
- Drive quality improvement, clinical audit, governance and contribute to service transformation projects
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to Band 7 clinicians, RMNs, HCAs, and students.
