Role Overview

The post holder will independently manage patients, request and interpret investigations, formulate treatment plans, prescribe where appropriate, and make decisions regarding admission, referral, or discharge. The role contributes significantly to reducing waiting times, improving patient experience, and supporting the delivery of national urgent and emergency care standards. ACPs also provide clinical leadership, education, and support to colleagues, contributing to service improvement and workforce development.

This role is critical to the effective functioning of the Minor Treatment Unit, helping to maintain patient flow through the department and reducing congestion within the main Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an autonomous practitioner, providing advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) and Minor Treatment Unit (MTU) with a wide range of minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Independently assess patients, formulate differential diagnoses, request and interpret investigations, and develop appropriate treatment and management plans.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of professional registration and prescribing qualifications, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
  • Support the effective operation of the Minor Treatment Unit by managing patient flow, reducing waiting times, and helping to alleviate pressure and congestion within the main Emergency Department.
  • Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, teaching, and mentorship to junior staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and ensure compliance with Trust policies, professional standards, and governance requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
