About The Role
Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Plymouth | Full Time 37.5 hours per week | £58,403.24 per year

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our dynamic Pre-Operative Assessment Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in optimising patients for surgery, improving patient pathways, and shaping the future of perioperative care.
As an ACP within the Pre-Operative Assessment Service, you will work autonomously whilst collaborating closely with Consultant Anaesthetists, our Physician Associate and Nursing Team. You will use advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose and optimise patients ahead of elective procedures, ensuring they are appropriately prepared for surgery and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality perioperative care.

What you'll be doing
- Undertaking advanced clinical assessments and making autonomous decisions regarding patients' fitness for surgery.
- Requesting, interpreting, and acting upon diagnostic investigations to support patient optimisation.
- Developing and implementing individualised care plans to reduce perioperative risk and improve patient outcomes.
- Working as a key member of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient surgical pathways.
- Providing expert advice and education to patients regarding surgical preparation, perioperative risks, and recovery expectations.
- Working as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber within your scope of practice, prescribing medications required within the pre-operative pathway.
- Leading and supporting quality improvement initiatives through audit, data analysis, and patient feedback.
- Supporting the development of evidence-based practice, clinical guidelines, and service improvements.
- Providing teaching, mentoring, coaching, and clinical supervision to colleagues across the perioperative pathway.

What we'll look for in you
- A Registered Nurse / AHP with current professional registration.
- A Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice (MSc ACP).
- An Independent Prescribing Qualification (V300) with evidence of prescribing within scope of practice.
- Significant experience working within an acute, perioperative, or primary care setting.
- Demonstrable experience of autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A proactive and patient-focused approach to care delivery.
- Experience in quality improvement, audit, and service development activities.
- A commitment to maintaining professional development and advancing clinical practice.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
