We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
As an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert patient centred care within Intensive Care at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
You will work in a highly skilled Multidisciplinary Team managing complex patient pathways with a high level of autonomy, participating in assessment, diagnosis and treatment. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical practice and you will be supported to continue your professional development including structured learning pathways for trainee candidates.
To apply you must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC or Allied Health Professional registered with the HCPC and eligible to undertake a non-medical prescribing qualification.
You must possess significant Critical Care experience. You should have evidence of clinical practice development including or working towards a Masters qualification. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.
Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically. Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers. Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.
