FIG3D is a growing UK advanced manufacturing and intelligent hardware company based in Yorkshire, focused on Defence and other high-performance industries. We design, engineer and manufacture next-generation hardware by combining advanced materials, hybrid manufacturing, electronics and embedded intelligence, taking products from concept and prototype through validation and scalable production.
We are investing in new manufacturing technologies, people and capability with the ambition of strengthening the UK's sovereign manufacturing base.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Sheffield team. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to help build and shape a manufacturing capability, rather than simply inherit established processes. You will develop, optimise and validate manufacturing processes for advanced hardware, working across the journey from prototype through to scalable production. Our current programmes include:
- Lightweight UAV platforms
- Counter-UAS acoustic detection
- Resilient mesh communications
- Intelligent manufacturing technologies
- Advanced materials and hybrid manufacturing
- Next-generation Defence hardware

What you will do:
- Develop robust, repeatable and scalable manufacturing processes.
- Translate engineering designs into practical manufacturing routes.
- Improve manufacturability, quality, cost and production efficiency.
- Develop tooling, fixtures and manufacturing systems.
- Conduct manufacturing trials and validation builds.
- Solve production and process challenges.
- Introduce new equipment, materials and manufacturing technologies.
- Support quality systems, standards and accreditation.
- Help shape FIG3D's future manufacturing infrastructure and technical roadmap.
- Support junior engineers, technicians and apprentices as the team grows.
What we're Looking For:
We're looking for someone with a strong practical engineering foundation who enjoys solving problems and making things better. Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience in Manufacturing, Process or Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience developing and improving manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving and continuous-improvement capability.
- Experience working with engineering drawings, CAD/CAM and production documentation.
- An understanding of quality, safety and manufacturing standards.
- A degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
Experience in Defence, aerospace, UAVs, additive manufacturing, CNC, composites, advanced materials, electronics or low-volume/high-value manufacturing would be particularly valuable. We are equally interested in exceptional candidates who may not tick every box but demonstrate strong practical ability, initiative and the potential to grow quickly.
