The Scottish Government’s ‘Best Start – a 5 year foreplan for maternity and neonatal care’, remains at the forefront of developing and improving neonatal care in Scotland. Coupled with the British Association of Perinatal Medicine Strategy for 2025-2028 there has never been a more exciting time to develop a career in the delivery of Neonatal care.
The Pharmacist role within Neonatal Services is continually developing and evolving, supported by standards outlined by our professional bodies. Many exciting opportunities for advancing practice, research, and innovation are regularly presented for Pharmacists. The role of the Pharmacist within the Neonatal MDT is well described and crucial to the timely access and active management of this vulnerable patient group and the delivery of family-centred care.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is a leader in the delivery of Neonatal care in Scotland. This post will deliver expert, senior neonatal care to babies across NHSGGC and leadership on the ongoing service delivery within the Neonatal Pharmacy team, under the direction and support of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Women and Children’s Services (W&C).

The post holder will deputise for the LCP W&C and will work with the wider MDT to develop a strategy for Neonatal Pharmacy services for the future.
You will need to be confident, enthusiastic, and have a drive for personal-professional development. You must have excellent communication and leadership skills as there will be a requirement to actively participate in service development at local and national level. Demonstrable experience of change management, and a desire to drive Pharmacy services forward in line with National strategy, is essential to the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Postgraduate qualification and Independent Prescribing qualification
- Demonstrably evidence practice at RPS Advanced Stage 1 or above
- Evidence of advanced clinical practice, leadership, education, research, and service development within a specialist clinical area
Working Pattern:
- Monday to Friday with participation in weekend working, public holidays, and on-call
