Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) - Walk-In Service (Urgent Care)
This is an exciting development for the role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within the Walk-In Service (Urgent Care). There are various hours available (minimum 30 hrs per week).
Role Overview
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will apply high levels of decision making to assess and treat paediatric and adult patients presenting to the Walk-in Service. As part of the senior clinical team, you will ensure patient health needs are met through the autonomous provision of diagnosis and the management of patient conditions through assessment, treatment, and review planning process. This will be facilitated in partnership with patients, carers, and families. This role involves providing specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives. Within this role you will also be required to work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to develop the service to improve practice, implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply high levels of decision making to assess and treat paediatric and adult patients.
- Ensure patient health needs are met through the autonomous provision of diagnosis and the management of patient conditions.
- Provide specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives.
- Work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to develop the service.
- Implement and evaluate evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policy.

Qualifications and Experience
- Registered General Nurse with substantial post-registration experience.
- Educated towards MSc level in an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Qualification and Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification, or hold relevant clinical experience.
- Experience supporting the professional development of others including teaching, clinical supervision, and the application of research and audit underpinned by a strong knowledge of current Urgent Care issues.
- Excellent professional leadership, team working, advanced clinical assessment, and decision-making skills.
Commitment to Development
- Support with orientation, access to Personal and Professional Development Planning, clinical supervision, coaching, and mentorship.
Hours and Location
- Hours will include weekend working.
- Travel across Fife will be required with centres at QMH, VHK, and St Andrews.
Requirements
- Become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
- Must have the relevant permission to work in the UK, evidenced through specific types of visa, EU settled and pre-settled status, or other routes as detailed on the GOV.UK website.
