Join The Renal Team based at Raigmore Hospital Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Clinical Practitioner Opportunity
NHS Highland Renal Service is currently recruiting for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANPs) or an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our dynamic team. The Renal service provides 24hr specialist care for patients from NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles. We provide care and management for patients with both acute kidney injury and established renal failure providing Haemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis treatments in centre treatment and in the patient’s home.
We provide highly specialised dialysis care for routine and emergency dialysis treatments including an out of hours on call service. The unit cares for patients pending dialysis, following renal transplant and conservative management. This includes the provision of palliative and supportive care to those who require it, both whilst receiving treatments and following withdrawal from active treatment plans.
The majority of our Renal patients attend our services as outpatients therefore Practitioners with Primary care experience may wish to consider this role, as there are significant similarities in the nature of the clinical work.
This is a new post to the renal service, and we are excited to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated individual to help shape the role of the ANP/ACP within the speciality. Renal experience would be an advantage but is not essential to the role as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
