Occupational Therapist - Part-Time Opportunity
We’re delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a part-time (22.5 hours per week), permanent Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Community Based Neuro Rehabilitation Team (CBNRT) in Berkshire. This varied and rewarding role sits across our Early Supported Discharge (ESD) for Stroke service and our Community Neuro Rehabilitation pathway, supporting people living with a range of neurological conditions to achieve their goals.
You’ll be joining a friendly, well-established multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, and Psychologists.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Support: Work in partnership with an established part-time Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the West Berks locality, providing senior-level clinical support across the working week (Monday to Friday). You will also work alongside Occupational Therapists within the wider Neuro Rehabilitation team, which has a well-established peer support and professional development structure.
- Location and Travel: The role is based at West Berks Community Hospital. You will require daily access to a vehicle to travel across the wider West Berks locality to see patients in their own homes and community locations. There is an opportunity and an expectation to support the wider team as required, which involves traveling to other sites and areas across Berkshire within your working hours to support for annual leave and patient cover.
- Specialist Skills: Use specialist Occupational Therapy skills for patients with a range of Neurological Conditions and work with other members of the MDT to maximize rehab outcomes for patients and support them to achieve meaningful goals.
- Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis: Responsible for assessment, differential diagnosis, formulation of treatment plans, and writing of full and clear clinical records and assessment reports, reflecting clinical reasoning.
- Collaboration: Work with other agencies and services to support patients in the management of their condition including their care, social, postural, and equipment needs.
- Clinical Decision Making: Work together with other senior members of the team across the MDT to support clinical decision-making around patient care and triage.
- Service Development: Contribute to evaluation and development of clinical services including research and audit.
- Supervision and Training: Supervision, training, and support of other Occupational Therapists, students, and Therapy Assistants in the team.
- Team Leadership: Work with other Band 7s, Service Lead, and the Trust Professional Lead to drive service development, training, and clinical excellence within the team.
- Professional Development: Responsibility for maintaining own competency and effectiveness of practice through relevant CPD, knowledge of clinical guidelines, and research.
- Professional Standards: Maintain a high level of professional responsibility by following relevant trust and professional standards and modeling behaviors to more junior members of staff.
