Opportunity for an Advanced Occupational Therapist
An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Advanced Occupational Therapist to co-lead the Acute Medicine Team at the University Hospital of North Midlands, based at Royal Stoke University Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist ready to step into this advanced role, who can embrace the challenges and opportunities of working in an acute trust environment. This is a 12-month secondment to cover maternity leave.
About the Role
The acute medicine therapies team works across a wide range of specialities including cardiology, endocrinology and gastroenterology. We cover 7 wards, facilitating discharge planning and providing rehabilitative care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership, service development, and education to the team.
- Foster good links and working relationships with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Develop innovative ways of working and consolidate leadership and management skills.
- Oversee the implementation of clinical audit recommendations and facilitate service development.
- Lead in student education.

Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ NHS experience.
- Specialist interest in acute medicine.
- Ideally, previous experience working across medicine and the acute sector.
Working Conditions
Therapy Services work within a 7-day shift system, therefore the post holder will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.
Supervision will be provided by Principal Therapists and continuous development is supported through appraisal, internal training, and external learning.
