Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Band 7 or Aspiring Band 6 Lead Dietitian in Acute Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 7 or aspiring band 6 to develop a role as the lead dietitian in acute services at the Staffordshire children’s hospital.

We are a large team of children's dietitians that sit within a large dietetic department. We are highly respected and integral part of the extensive MDT, with specialities including CF, gastro, neonates, diabetes. Our community HEF and GP speciality dietitians also sit within the team. We are also supported by a sizeable admin team, a dietetic assistant and nutrition nurse.

You will have the opportunity to develop dietetic care to PICU, HDU and the wards, alongside provision of leadership to the supporting band 6. You will have input in regular team meetings, band 7 meetings and plenty of opportunities for CPD.

The specialist intensive care unit is part of Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke works closely with Birmingham Children's Hospital to ensure that the best care is available to critically ill children in the area. The children cared for can have all range of support and require understanding of renal replacement, gut dysmotility, ARDS, diabetes insipidus, acute liver injury, and the acute versus recovery phase in nutritional management. As children can be cared for from out of area, good liaison and communication with the local dietitian and teams is required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
