Clinical Pharmacist Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Pharmacist with a passion for severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis (CF), tuberculosis (TB), pleural disorders, obstructive sleep apnoea and respiratory infections to join our forward-thinking and highly respected team.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise while playing a key role in delivering high-quality pharmacy services across respiratory services.
Responsibilities
- Develop Advanced Practice Capabilities: Opportunities to pursue consultant-level credentialing where appropriate.
- Skill Expansion: Utilise and expand your skills as a non-medical prescriber.
- Further Education: Pursue further study with full support from the team.
- Research and Innovation: Engage in practice-based research to drive innovation and improve patient care.
Role Details
You will be embedded within a proactive multidisciplinary team, working alongside clinicians, nurse specialists and allied health professionals to deliver outstanding patient care across the Peninsula.
Job Description
- Patient Focused Service: Provision of a high-quality patient-focused clinical pharmacy service for patients within the respiratory care areas.
- Specialist Areas: Including severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis (CF), tuberculosis (TB), pleural disorders, obstructive sleep apnoea and respiratory infections, including local care for patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
- MDT Contributions: Contribute to the Severe Asthma MDT and, where designated, act as the named pharmacist in accordance with the NHS England service specification.
- Ward Rounds: Provide clinical pharmacist input to daily consultant-led MDT ward rounds.
- Leadership: Act as team leader for the ward-based pharmacy team and as a team member for the clinical pharmacy team.
- Teaching and Supervision: Undertake teaching and clinical supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare employees.

Career Progression
Candidates who meet the qualifications for this post but may not yet demonstrate the full knowledge or experience required at Band 8a will still be considered for this role as a Band 7 to Band 8a progression opportunity. The successful candidate will receive the necessary support to achieve the required progression milestones and demonstrate the expected level of practice before progressing to an advanced specialist Band 8a role.
