Are you an experienced Yard or Warehouse Operative looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Advanced Yard Operative to join our busy operations team in St Ives.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone with warehouse or yard experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You'll play a key part in ensuring equipment and materials are received, maintained, prepared, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and housekeeping.

A valid Forklift Licence is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

As an Advanced Yard Operative, your duties will include:

  • Receiving and checking stock deliveries against delivery notes
  • Sorting equipment and materials into component parts and storing them correctly
  • Reporting damaged, missing, or faulty items
  • Preparing, dismantling, and assembling equipment ready for dispatch
  • Carrying out basic maintenance tasks including cleaning, painting, sanding, and minor repairs
  • Completing pick sheets, job sheets, and stock checks accurately
  • Assisting with stock counting and inventory management
  • Loading and unloading vehicles when required
  • Supporting the picking and packing of customer orders
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse, yard, and communal areas
  • Following all health and safety procedures and wearing required PPE
  • Supporting different departments as business needs require

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Essential

  • Previous warehouse, yard, logistics, or operational experience
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn

Desirable

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience with stock control and inventory management
  • Experience in goods-in, goods-out, or distribution operations

This is an active role involving:

  • Manual handling activities
  • Lifting, carrying, bending, stretching, and reaching
  • Working both indoors and outdoors
  • Standing and moving around for extended periods
