Adventure Product, Marketing & Operations Coordinator

Location: County Durham (Hybrid – Initial Remote Project, then Office-Based)

Salary: £30,000 per annum (pro rata)

Contract: Initial 3-Week Project with Opportunity for Ongoing Part-Time Employment

Start Date: ASAP


About Alexander Adventures

Alexander Adventures is a premium UK adventure travel company delivering professionally led expeditions and adventures across the UK and around the world.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an organised, creative and commercially minded individual to help develop our adventure products, improve our systems and enhance the customer experience.

This is a varied role where you’ll contribute to product development, marketing, operations and business growth while working alongside our operations and IT development team.


The Opportunity

The successful applicant will begin with an initial three-week project, designed to introduce them to our systems, products and ways of working.

Following successful completion of the project, there is the opportunity to continue in a part-time role (approximately two days per week) based from our County Durham office.

Key Responsibilities

Adventure Product Development

  • Create engaging expedition and itinerary content.
  • Build and update adventures within our booking system.
  • Review and improve existing trip information.
  • Create quotations and scheduled departures.
  • Research destinations, accommodation and suppliers.
  • Assist with developing new adventures and experiences.

Website & Digital Content

  • Improve the presentation and quality of adventure pages.
  • Create engaging website content.
  • Review and improve the customer journey.
  • Produce blogs, destination information and customer resources.
  • Ensure all content reflects the Alexander Adventures brand.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Support social media planning and content creation.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns and trip launches.
  • Help improve the presentation of the Alexander Adventures brand.
  • Suggest creative ideas to increase enquiries and bookings.
  • Monitor competitor activity and identify opportunities for improvement.

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
  • Prepare quotations.
  • Support customers throughout the booking process.
  • Help convert enquiries into bookings.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service.

Operations

  • Learn and manage our booking and operations platform.
  • Review automated customer communications.
  • Test systems and identify bugs or improvements.
  • Work alongside our IT development team to improve systems.
  • Carry out quality assurance across the website and booking platform.
  • Help improve internal processes and operational efficiency.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities to improve products, systems and customer experience.
  • Contribute ideas to support business growth.
  • Support new projects as the business develops.
  • Use AI tools, including ChatGPT, to improve productivity and content creation.

Person Specification

Essential

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is based in the United Kingdom.
  • Can work from our County Durham office following the initial project.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail.
  • Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Enjoys writing and creating engaging content.
  • Has an understanding of websites, branding and social media.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and AI tools such as ChatGPT.
  • Has excellent customer service skills.
  • Is proactive, reliable and commercially aware.
  • Enjoys solving problems and improving systems.
  • Can work independently and as part of a small team.

Desirable

  • Experience in administration or business operations.
  • Experience in marketing or content creation.
  • Experience managing websites or social media.
  • Experience within the travel, tourism or outdoor industry.
  • Experience using CRM or booking systems.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Express or similar software.

By the end of the initial three-week project you will have:

  • Created and improved adventure products and itineraries.
  • Enhanced website content.
  • Created quotations and departures.
  • Improved customer communications.
  • Identified opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Contributed ideas to strengthen our products, website and marketing.

Please Note

  • Applicants must be based in the UK.
  • This is not an outdoor instructor or expedition leader position.
  • This is not a travel-based role. It is focused on developing and supporting the business behind our adventures.
  • Following the initial project, successful applicants will be expected to work from our County Durham office approximately two days per week.
