Advertising Sales Apprentice - News UK

Duration: 2 Year Apprenticeship
Start Date: January 2027
Location: London Bridge

Your Team

You will join a dynamic Commercial Sales team managing advertising revenue across our portfolio of print and magazine titles, such as The Sun and The Times. We manage the ad revenue for all our print titles, providing you with the perfect environment to develop your skills alongside experienced sales professionals.

Your Role

As an Advertising Sales Apprentice at News UK, you will be liaising with agencies and direct clients offering first-class recommendations and customer service across all of our products and platforms. The role includes business development (sourcing new clients and selling our products), account management (developing excellent relationships with new accounts and ensuring we maximise revenue) as well as internal stakeholder relationship management.

Being an Apprentice at News UK

During your time with us, you will earn above the living wage while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training. You’ll work 4 days a week with News UK and spend 1 day studying toward a fully funded Sales Executive Level 4 qualification. Along with mentorship from top industry professionals, we will provide any tailored support you need to reach your full potential.

Day to Day

  • Manage an existing portfolio of agency and client accounts within The Response Team.
  • Identify and pitch to potential new business clients within target media markets.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with key internal teams, agency contacts, and external media buyers.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and clear product recommendations tailored to client goals.
  • Monitor performance data across your assigned accounts to spot growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate campaign details and offer creative alternative advertising options when needed.
  • Partner with Editorial teams to align advertising opportunities with upcoming features and special editions.

  • Computer literate with an appetite to learn.
  • Comfortable with speaking to customers at all levels.
  • Be aware that you are an ambassador for our portfolio and adapt your response accordingly.
  • Build outstanding relationship-building skills.
  • Willing to work within a changing environment with a positive approach to new opportunities.
  • Great work ethic and can-do attitude.
