We’re working with an established financial planning business that is looking to strengthen its adviser oversight and development capability with the appointment of an Advice Quality Consultant.
This is a varied role sitting at the intersection of adviser development, advice quality and regulatory compliance. You’ll work closely with Financial Advisers, helping maintain high standards of advice while providing the coaching, feedback and practical support they need to continue developing.
Rather than being a purely technical compliance position, this opportunity would suit somebody who enjoys working directly with advisers and wants to make a tangible difference to both adviser performance and client outcomes.
Role & Responsibilities: 📋
- Reviewing financial advice files and assessing the quality and suitability of recommendations.
- Carrying out adviser monitoring and supervision activity in line with the firm's Training & Competence requirements.
- Providing advisers with constructive feedback following file reviews and competency assessments.
- Coaching individuals to improve technical knowledge, advice standards and overall performance.
- Supporting the onboarding and development of new advisers joining the business.
- Helping deliver adviser workshops, training sessions and development initiatives.
- Identifying trends or recurring issues arising from file reviews, complaints and other monitoring activity.
- Supporting assessments of adviser competency and risk.
- Producing accurate records and management information relating to adviser performance and development.
- Acting as a useful point of contact for advisers with T&C and development-related questions.
- Working alongside Compliance, Risk and other internal teams to ensure regulatory or technical developments are reflected in adviser practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
