Senior Financial Trader – Cargill

About the Role

The Financial Trading Group Trader will drive profit generation through proprietary trading activities with a focus on South Africa, Brazil, and/or Mexico.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Actively trade and invest in assigned markets, including foreign exchange (FX), interest rates, and sovereign credit
  • Ensure desk profitability and α generation through strategic positioning.

Key Accountabilities

  • Generate significant profits by trading FX, local rates, or sovereign credit in the specified regional markets.
  • Book and accurately record all positions and strategies traded.
  • Execute trades across asset classes with minimal slippage, precise execution, and reduced errors, independently managing counterparty interactions and resolving transaction-related issues.
  • Provide trade ideas and research insights to your team while identifying new strategies that align with portfolio goals to boost profit and loss outcomes.
  • Offer expert-level thought leadership, operating with minimal oversight, to detect opportunities and resolve challenges through research-based decision-making.
  • Lead supporting teammates, contributing strategically to team objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven financial trading track record with consistent high-risk, high-return results in South Africa, Brazil, and/or Mexico.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in trading or related roles.
  • Additional applicable minimum qualifications may be considered per business requirements.

Preferred Experience

Strong background in:

  • Trading foreign exchange (FX), local interest rates, and sovereign credit markets.
  • Generating profits in institutional/proprietary settings.
  • Sharing trade insights and research across brokerage or trading teams.
