Job Description

The Role

Grant Thornton is looking for an experienced forensic technology professional to deliver digital investigations, eDiscovery and data analysis for clients facing disputes, suspected misconduct, regulatory scrutiny or business distress.

You will work hands-on with evidence from computers, mobile devices, cloud platforms, Microsoft 365 and business systems. You will turn technical data into reliable findings, clear advice and evidence that can withstand scrutiny. Assignments range from examining a device or mailbox to leading a multi-source investigation or large-scale review.

The role combines technical delivery with client work. We are interested in people who can take ownership, make sound decisions and explain what the evidence does and does not show. The appointment level will depend on the scope of work you can lead independently.

The Work

The team handles matters involving:

  • Digital evidence in fraud, misconduct, data theft and regulatory investigations.
  • Computer, mobile, cloud and Microsoft 365 forensics.
  • eDiscovery, document review and production.
  • Data recovery and analysis in insolvency, restructuring and disputes.
  • Structured data, communications, metadata and activity timelines.
  • Analytics, scripting and AI-supported investigative workflows.
  • Reports, affidavits and evidence for clients, lawyers, regulators and courts.

You will work with forensic accountants, investigators, legal advisers and colleagues across Grant Thornton’s international network. The team operates from an ISO 27001-certified forensic laboratory and uses tools including Nuix, RelativityOne, FTK, EnCase, XRY, Cellebrite and Magnet.

What You Will Do

  • Plan and carry out defensible collections from devices, cloud services and business systems.
  • Examine data, reconstruct activity and identify relevant evidence, gaps and limitations.
  • Build practical workflows for processing, analysis, review and production.
  • Maintain clear notes, chain-of-custody records and audit trails.
  • Prepare findings, timelines, exhibits and reports that explain the evidence clearly.
  • Discuss technical findings and options directly with clients and legal teams.
  • Use analytics, scripting and AI where they improve the quality or efficiency of the work.
  • Work with colleagues across disciplines to develop a complete view of the evidence.
  • Contribute to proposals, client development and improvements to the team’s services.

What We Expect At Each Level

Senior Consultant

You will take responsibility for substantial technical workstreams and, where appropriate, smaller engagements. You will plan and complete work with limited supervision, keep clients and project leads informed, identify issues early and produce work that is ready for review. You will also support junior colleagues and contribute practical ideas to proposals, workflows and new services.

Assistant Manager

You will independently manage defined engagements or workstreams, including planning the work, coordinating the team, keeping clients informed and managing deadlines and budgets. You will make day-to-day technical decisions, review work and raise significant risks or issues promptly. You will contribute to proposals and service development, with support on more complex commercial or technical decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Manager

You will lead complex engagements from scoping through delivery. You will set the investigative or eDiscovery approach, manage client relationships, deadlines, budgets and project risks, and take responsibility for the quality of the final work.

You will also help develop the practice by building trusted client relationships, understanding the challenges they face and shaping practical solutions where our expertise can help. You will lead proposals and tenders, strengthen our services and improve how we deliver them, including through analytics, automation and AI.

What You Will Bring

  • Practical experience in digital forensics, eDiscovery, investigations, data analytics or a closely related field.
  • Experience collecting, analysing or interpreting electronic evidence.
  • Sound judgement when handling sensitive, incomplete or disputed evidence.
  • Clear communication with clients and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation and ownership of deadlines and deliverables.
  • For Manager appointments: a track record of leading client projects independently and developing client work, people or services.

Experience with Nuix, RelativityOne, FTK, EnCase, XRY, Cellebrite, Magnet, Microsoft 365, scripting, structured data or AI-supported review is useful. We do not expect one person to have used every platform or worked across every area listed.

A relevant degree, professional qualification or technical certification is welcome. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
