Advisory Teacher – Physical Disabilities and Complex Medical Needs
0.6 FTE Soulbury Pay Scale 11-14 (£59,630 - £63,900 pro rata ) plus Outer London Weighting (£2,600)
Are you passionate about inclusive education and making a difference in the lives of children and young people requiring Assistive Technology support including Augmentative Alternative Communication?
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Advisory Teacher to join our Physical and Sensory Support Team within the SEND Education Support Service (SENDESS). This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practices across early years settings, schools, and colleges in Havering.
What You’ll Do
- Provide expert advice, coaching, and training to schools and SENCOs on inclusive practices and Havering’s SEND procedures.
- Support children and young people with physical disabilities and/or complex SEND directly in educational settings.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments.
- Promote person-centred planning and ensure the voice of the child is central to all support.
- Collaborate with professionals across education, health, and social care to deliver cohesive, family-centred support.
- Lead on the use of Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools.

What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with further qualifications or CPD in SEND.
- Proven experience supporting children with physical disabilities, complex needs and using AAC/AT to enhance communication and access to education for learning.
- Strong understanding of the Social Model of Disability and inclusive education.
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
- A solution-focused, empathetic, and proactive approach.
