Opening Doors is a user led self advocacy charity run by and for adults with learning disabilities in Norfolk.

We are looking for an Advocacy Adviser to join our small and friendly team.
About The Role
This is a varied role supporting people with learning disabilities both individually and in groups.
You Will
- Provide 1 to 1 advocacy, helping people understand their choices, make their own decisions and speak up about what matters to them.
- Support self advocates to run their own advocacy groups in the community, in secure settings and online.
- Help people understand information and find solutions to problems, sometimes at difficult times in their lives.
- Support self advocates to take part in and lead projects.
- Build good working relationships with families, supporters, professionals and other organisations.
- Keep clear and accurate records of your work and contribute to monitoring.
- Follow safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.

We are looking for someone who is patient, supportive and a good listener. You will need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team and be confident using computers and keeping accurate records.
An important part of the role is enabling people to speak up and make their own decisions without taking over.
A driving licence and use of a vehicle for work are essential.
Contract type
Fixed term 2 years initially, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

Salary
£26,936 to £29,591 pro rata, depending on skills and experience
Hours
16 hours per week, including Wednesdays
