Responsibilities

As a Café and Retail Assistant, you will be required to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all external bodies, visitors, and members of the public attending the visitor attraction center in an efficient, positive, and professional manner, ensuring the image and integrity of Dŵr Cymru is maintained at a high level.
  • Include:
    1. Acting as the first point of contact for all external bodies, visitors, and members of the public attending the visitor attraction center.
    2. Contribute effectively to the goals and objectives of the visitor attraction team. You will be asked to assist with bookings for meeting rooms, catering orders, and handle day-to-day inquiries.
    3. Contribute to health and safety requirements on site, ensuring a safe working environment suitable for staff and visitors.
    4. Assist the visitor attraction management team in ensuring Dŵr Cymru operates and maintains a safe working environment, achieving the required standards in Health and Safety and Statutory Compliance. Assist with Fire Registers, waste disposal, first aid, and the safety of staff and visitors.
    5. Meet and greet visitors, ensuring they sign the visitors' book and their site contact meets with them.
    6. Handle telephone inquiries and internal and external correspondence, transferring calls, taking messages, answering inquiries, for all aspects of site activities.
    7. Assist Business Support with general administrative tasks on a daily basis.
    8. Assist with all elements of the post, both internally and externally, recorded deliveries, parcels and packages, carriers, and special deliveries on site.
    9. Monitor the bike hire booking system.
    10. Undertake any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
    11. Assist in the retail area with tills and stock supply during holidays.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Clerical/administrative qualifications or qualifications related to public relations.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in dealing with members of the public, working at the front line in a reception or in a role directly related to customers previously.
  • Experience in making and receiving phone calls and inquiries, dealing with customers and the public over the phone.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Passionate about putting our customers first every day.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge or experience of Health and Safety processes.
  • Competent knowledge of computers with experience in using Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to make positive decisions and manage situations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to take on tasks on your own within specific timescales and also work in a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Work a rota from Monday to Sunday with possible hours between 8.30am and 6.00pm (including an 8-hour workday).
Our busiest times are weekends and school holidays, where more hours are available.
Must be able to work on weekends and during school holidays.
