The Aerodynamics Department

The Aerodynamics Department plays a critical role in developing innovative solutions that enhance the performance of our Formula 1 car. A large variety of high-level skills are essential to guarantee the best possible results through each step of the aerodynamic development from inception to final product. Such skills are creativity, ingenuity, organisation, analytical skills, attention to detail, people and process management.

On this 12-month placement

You join the Aero Development team and work on real changes to the car that the team races that season. Using Williams’ in-house analysis tools, you will interpret how car updates behave and turn that into insights that engineering colleagues act on. It is hands-on work that rewards curiosity, careful analysis and a methodical approach to testing.

  • Run deep technical analysis of car changes and share findings clearly with the team
  • Support the planning and running of aerodynamic experiments, including wind tunnel tests
  • Apply CAD (computer-aided design) to help shape and check aerodynamic surfaces
  • Work across departments, bringing teamwork and accountability to shared performance goals

Company Description

History doesn’t repeat itself. It’s rebuilt - one breakthrough at a time.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
