Join the Aerodynamics Department as we take on the challenge of Formula One’s exciting new era of sustainable technical regulations.
By spending your year in industry with us, you will:
- Apply your learning in one of the most technically demanding global sports.
- Gain meaningful responsibility as you are supported and trained throughout your year.
- Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2027 to the end of July 2028.
- Work in a dynamic and collaborative environment at our state-of-the-art factory in Brackley.
- Be an integral part of a cohort of students working across all functions of our team.
Key Responsibilities
Working collaboratively as part of a small group, you will apply your thoughtful and inquisitive nature to exciting projects that improve the aerodynamic performance of our car, enhance our tools and methodologies.
Depending on your specific placement within the Aerodynamics Department, you could find yourself testing in our on-site wind tunnel, evaluating different concepts with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), modelling your ideas using Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or applying your programming skills to develop new analysis tools.
As a placement student with us you will enjoy the same responsibilities and creative freedoms as our full-time employees and will make a very real contribution to the performance of our Team.
Supported and mentored by experienced engineers, you will see your skills develop over your time with us. You will return to university to complete your studies having enjoyed an experience that helped you grow as an engineer.
About You
Successful candidates will:
- Have a passion for aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics or fluid motion and are excited about the opportunity to develop your skills by applying your curious nature to stimulating projects.
- Have a strong background in an engineering discipline with excellent skills in Mathematics and Physics.
- Have a good appreciation of the basics of aerodynamics.
- Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course* from the point at which you start your placement with us (*please note that if you will be enrolled on a Masters or PhD course you will need to be able to evidence enrolment to confirm eligibility).
- Demonstrate how your experiences (eg academic, extra-curricular, work, life experiences) reflect your values. Our shared values are Competitive, Brave, Accountable, Selfless.

A prior interest in motorsport is not required: we are more interested in your potential to apply your aerodynamic skills and understanding to practical engineering challenges.
Key Skills You Could Gain From Your Placement
- Understanding aerodynamics and fluid flow structures, connecting theory to practice.
- Creating innovative solutions to problems, eg developing aero concepts or improving CFD correlation.
- Interpreting data, eg results from our state-of-the-art aerodynamic facilities.
- Developing tools and methodologies, eg writing programs in Python or MATLAB.
- Designing surfaces and components in CAD.
- Planning and performing test programmes, eg in the wind-tunnel or in CFD.
