Afterhours Driver Support Specialist
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Afterhours Driver Support Specialist based in the United Kingdom.
Join a fast-paced logistics environment where you will play a critical role in supporting drivers during afterhours operations. As a key point of contact during night shifts, you will help resolve operational challenges quickly and keep drivers moving toward their destinations. You will work closely with dispatchers, drivers, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and timely communication. The role combines customer support, problem-solving, logistics coordination, and technology in a fully remote setting. You will use transportation management systems and internal communication tools to investigate issues and identify effective solutions. Each shift is supported by at least one additional team member, creating a collaborative environment even during late hours. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional who thrives under pressure and enjoys making a direct operational impact.
Accountabilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers experiencing operational issues during afterhours and night shifts.
- Listen to drivers' concerns with empathy, assess situations quickly, and provide practical and efficient solutions.
- Assist drivers with load, receiver, shipper, routing, and other transportation-related issues to help keep operations on schedule.
- Use the Transportation Management System (TMS) to identify load numbers and retrieve relevant shipment information.
- Contact brokers and other relevant stakeholders when additional instructions, clarification, or support is required.
- Coordinate through internal communication channels such as Slack, tagging the appropriate dispatchers and drivers to ensure information reaches the right people quickly.
- Maintain clear and accurate communication throughout each issue and follow through until an appropriate resolution is reached.
- Work collaboratively with at least one other team member during each shift while remaining capable of taking ownership of issues independently.
- Identify recurring challenges and contribute to improvements in afterhours driver support processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
