Agentic AI Senior Software Engineer

SALARY: £69,624 - £87,030
LOCATION(S): Manchester
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at one of our office sites.

Job Description Summary

As an Agentic AI Senior Software Engineer, you'll join the Agentic Orchestration feature team within the Agentic Automation Lab, part of the Agentic & AI Services Platform in Enabling Services.

Working at the forefront of a rapidly evolving technology landscape, you'll help design, develop and scale enterprise-grade agentic AI capabilities that enable teams across Lloyds Banking Group to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions. You'll work closely with engineers, architects and product teams to build secure, scalable and resilient AI services that support a broad range of business use cases.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Design and evolve platform and system architectures for agentic AI services and orchestration capabilities.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality, production-grade software and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Build and enhance AI-powered services, agentic workflows and platform capabilities that enable adoption across the Group.
  • Partner with engineers, architects and product teams to accelerate the delivery of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, software lifecycle practices and technical strategy.
  • Drive innovation through experimentation, continuous improvement and the adoption of emerging AI technologies.

What you'll need

  • Strong Python software engineering skills, with proven experience designing, developing and delivering secure, scalable, production-grade applications and services.
  • Experience designing and delivering Agentic AI solutions, including agentic workflows, tool integration, orchestration patterns and multi-agent architectures.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable cloud-native systems, platforms and services.
  • Strong Software Engineering capability with experience applying modern engineering practices including testing, CI/CD and software lifecycle management.
  • Strong Critical Thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges, evaluate trade-offs and deliver practical solutions.
  • Strong Collaboration skills, building effective partnerships across engineering, architecture and product teams to deliver shared outcomes.

And any experience of this would be really useful

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompting, evaluation and fine-tuning approaches.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and AI observability, monitoring or evaluation frameworks.
