Agentic Automation Engineer
On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Agentic Automation Engineer for a 6 months contract based Hybrid London or York.

As a Agentic Automation Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
We're looking for an Agentic Automation Engineer to help shape and deliver the next generation of AI-driven automation across the rail industry.
This is not a traditional Power Platform Developer role. We're seeking someone with hands-on experience building AI agents and agentic solutions, primarily within the Microsoft Agentic AI ecosystem, leveraging low-code technologies to design, orchestrate and deploy intelligent automation at enterprise scale.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery pod, you'll develop secure, scalable and reusable AI agents that support decision-making, improve operational efficiency and transform business processes across the industry.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, test and deploy AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and related Microsoft AI technologies.
- Develop agentic automation solutions capable of reasoning, planning and executing business tasks.
- Configure and orchestrate AI agents that interact with enterprise applications, data sources and business systems.
- Build integrations using APIs, connectors and reusable services to support intelligent automation.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, user-centred automation solutions.
- Collaborate with Delivery Pods to deliver innovative AI-enabled solutions across multiple business domains.
- Support the development of reusable patterns, frameworks and reference architectures for agentic automation.
- Ensure solutions are secure, governed and compliant with organisational standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through automated testing, CI/CD and version-controlled delivery practices.
- Support innovation initiatives and help drive adoption of Agentic AI capabilities across the organisation.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience building AI agents and agentic automation solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio.
- Experience with Microsoft's Agentic AI capabilities and services.
- Experience working with technologies such as:
- Azure AI Foundry
- Azure OpenAI Service
- Azure AI Search
- Azure Functions
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure API Management
- Microsoft Graph
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience integrating enterprise systems through APIs and connectors.
- Knowledge of agent orchestration and AI-driven workflow automation.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing and secure software development practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to delivery.
- Ability to work across both technical and business stakeholders to deliver measurable value.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with alternative agentic AI platforms such as:
- UiPath Agent Builder
- IBM watsonx Orchestrate
- AWS Bedrock Agents
- Google Vertex AI
- Experience developing operational copilots and enterprise AI assistants.
- Knowledge of Python, C#,.NET, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience of low-code and pro-code AI solution development.
- Experience within transport, infrastructure or regulated industries.
- Degree-level qualification in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience.
