We are currently recruiting for a Agentic Automation Engineers to join a major digital transformation programme within the rail industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced AI, Automation and Software Engineers to design and deliver secure, production-ready AI agents and intelligent automation solutions that improve operational performance.
Location: London / York
Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite
Contract: 12 months
Rate: £795/day Umbrella
IR35: Inside IR35
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deploy secure Agentic AI solutions.
- Build AI agents capable of reasoning, planning and interacting with enterprise systems.
- Integrate AI solutions with APIs, applications and operational platforms.
- Develop secure APIs, connectors and reusable integration services.
- Build automation workflows and data pipelines using low-code and pro-code technologies.
- Support CI/CD, automated testing, version control and secure software development.
- Provide technical assurance across solution design, estimation, testing and delivery.
- Optimise solutions for accuracy, scalability, resilience and performance.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Develop reusable engineering patterns, components and technical standards.

Essential Experience
Strong experience within the Microsoft/Azure AI and automation ecosystem, including several of:
- Copilot Studio
- Azure AI Foundry
- Azure OpenAI Service
- Azure AI Search
- Logic Apps
- Azure Functions
- API Management
- Azure DevOps
- Microsoft Fabric
- Microsoft Graph
- Entra ID
- Semantic Kernel
- Dataverse
- GitHub
You should also have:
- Experience with Agentic AI/orchestration platforms such as AWS Bedrock Agents, Google Vertex AI, IBM watsonx Orchestrate or UiPath Agent Builder.
- Strong API and enterprise integration experience.
- REST/GraphQL APIs, event-driven architecture, webhooks and messaging.
- Git, CI/CD, automated testing and secure software development.
- Docker/Kubernetes and cloud-native development.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or SQL.
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Strong requirements gathering, process design and solution design experience.

Desirable
- Railway-sector experience.
- Power Platform experience.
- UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, Camunda or Pega.
- Experience delivering both low-code and pro-code Agentic AI solutions.
- STEM degree or equivalent qualification.
