Agentic Automation Engineer
Contract: 12 Months
Location: London / York, UK
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
Contract Type: Contract
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Agentic Automation Engineer to design, develop and deploy secure AI-powered automation solutions for a major UK infrastructure organisation. You will work across Agentic AI, Microsoft Azure, low-code automation and enterprise integration, building intelligent solutions that can reason, plan, interact with business systems and automate complex operational and knowledge-based processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deploy secure AI agents and operational copilots.
- Build integrations with enterprise applications and operational systems using APIs, connectors and reusable integration services.
- Develop automation workflows and data pipelines using Microsoft low-code and pro-code technologies.
- Translate business requirements and process definitions into scalable automation solutions.
- Develop reusable engineering patterns, components, reference implementations and technical standards.
- Design and implement REST/GraphQL APIs, event-driven integrations, webhooks and messaging solutions.
- Support CI/CD, automated testing, source control and production deployment of automation solutions.
- Apply appropriate security, governance and engineering standards to AI and automation solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary delivery teams to deliver measurable operational improvements.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience developing enterprise automation solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as:
- Microsoft Copilot Studio
- Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI
- Azure AI Search
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure Functions
- Azure API Management
- Microsoft Graph / Entra ID
- Dataverse / Azure DevOps
- Experience building AI agents, copilots or agentic automation solutions.
- Strong programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or SQL.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, event-driven architecture, webhooks and messaging.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing and secure software development.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Experience with solution design, requirements capture, process design and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and collaborative working skills.

Desirable
- Experience with AWS Bedrock Agents, Google Vertex AI, IBM watsonx Orchestrate or UiPath Agent Builder.
- Experience with Power Platform, UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, Camunda or Pega.
- Experience developing both low-code and pro-code Agentic AI solutions.
- Experience within the rail, transport, infrastructure or other complex operational environments.
- STEM degree or equivalent professional experience.
