About the Opportunity

Job Type: Permanent
Application Deadline: 25 September 2026
Title: Agile Release Train (ART) Owner, Core Value Stream – Fixed Income
Department: Asset Management Platforms
Location: London
Reports To: Value Stream Owner – Equity and Fixed Income
Level: Grade 7

We’re proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.

Our clients come from all walks of life and so do we. We are proud of our inclusive culture and encourage applications from the widest mix of talent, whatever your age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, social background and more.

As a flexible employer, we trust our people to perform their role in the way that works best for them, our clients and our business. We are a disability-friendly company and would welcome a conversation with you if you feel you might benefit from any reasonable adjustments to perform to the best of your ability during the recruitment process and beyond.

About your team

As a business, we are constantly evolving how we work to stay ahead of what our clients need and to deliver on our strategic ambitions. FIL Platforms represents the next step in that journey - bringing together Asset Management Delivery, Enterprise Technology Services, and delivery and change teams from across the business into a single integrated structure, designed for clarity, speed, and impact.

That structure is organised around Platforms, and within each Platform a set of Value Streams that translate strategic priorities into funded, sequenced delivery. Within each Value Stream sits one or more ARTs - the teams of teams construct through which Epics are planned, sequenced and delivered. The ART is where the strategy becomes a committed delivery plan, and where the Squads doing the work are co-ordinated, unblocked, and held to a consistent standard.

Asset Management Platforms is responsible for the design and delivery of business process and technology solutions that support the growth and evolution of Fidelity's Asset Management business. We partner with Investment Management, Asset Management Operations and Distribution teams across Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, Singapore, Australia, China and Toronto.

This role sits within the Core Value Stream – Equity and Fixed Income, supporting strategic initiatives that enhance portfolio construction, investment decision-making, analytics, order generation, execution management and investment risk capabilities.

About your role

An ART is FIL’s team-of-teams delivery construct - the layer that sits between the Value Stream and the Squads delivering the work. The ART owns the Epic horizon: translating Value Stream priorities into a sequenced, realistic plan that Squads can execute against, sprint by sprint.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ART Owner is accountable for the successful delivery of the Value Stream ART, translating strategic investment management priorities into executable delivery plans and ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently and predictably.

The role combines programme leadership, product delivery oversight and stakeholder management across a complex front-office investment management landscape. The successful candidate will work closely with investment teams, technology leaders and business stakeholders to drive transformation initiatives supporting Fidelity's Fixed Income investing capabilities.

Day to day, this means:

  • Facilitating Quarterly Planning - ensuring capacity is understood, value is prioritised, dependencies are mapped and risks are surfaced before Squads commit.
  • Sequencing epics against value and making clear reprioritisation decisions to maintain Squad focus.
  • Tracking delivery flow between quarterly cycles and acting early when velocity, quality or Squad health signals a problem.
  • Maintaining cross-ART dependencies – resolving what can be resolved at ART level and escalating to the VS Owner where trade-offs require Initiative level decisions.
  • Owning ART level risks, issues and dependencies - resolving what can be resolved and escalating what cannot.
  • Ensuring Squads operate consistently within FIL’s agreed ways of working and delivery standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with FIL’s risk and control standards across the ART.
  • Partnering with engineering leads on constraints, architecture decisions and tech debt at Epic level.
  • Communicating progress, risks and trade-offs to the VS Owner clearly.
  • Ultimately responsible for the performance of the work being delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with Portfolio Managers, Quantitative Researchers, Investment Directors and senior business stakeholders.
  • Partner with business leaders to define and sequence strategic priorities.
  • Ensure technology investment aligns with investment business objectives and target operating models.

Programme Delivery Leadership

  • Lead delivery governance across multiple squads and workstreams.
  • Manage cross-platform and cross-value stream dependencies.
  • Drive issue resolution, risk mitigation and escalation management.
  • Ensure delivery commitments are met whilst balancing scope, quality, timeline and cost considerations.

Change & Adoption

  • Drive business readiness and adoption of new capabilities.
  • Ensure realised business value is measured and tracked.
  • Support organisational change across investment teams and operating functions.

About you

The role suits someone who has run delivery at scale in a complex organisation like FIL - not just as a facilitator of Agile ceremonies but as someone who has genuinely owned the outcomes of a team-of-teams construct. You will be comfortable working in the space between the strategic priorities coming from a VS Owner and the squad level realities coming up from the Squads, with the credibility to challenge upwards and the trust to lead downward.

Specifically, we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer, ART Owner or equivalent in a scaled Agile environment or similar complexity.
  • A strong understanding of Quarterly Planning beyond facilitation - including capacity planning, dependency mapping and risk management at ART level.
  • The ability to hold delivery accountable across multiple Squads.
  • Enough technical fluency to engage credibly with engineering leads on constraints, debt and non-functional requirements at Epic level.
  • Strong people leadership - ensuring Product Owners within the squad are being nurtured and developed.
  • Clear, direct communication with both delivery teams and senior stakeholders, including the ability to deliver difficult messages without ambiguity.
  • Proven, sustained experience working in an asset management context - with a thorough understanding of the investment management process.

Behavioural expectations

Brave

  • Prioritise learning and momentum over defending legacy commitments.
  • Remove blockers and reset priorities when outcomes are at risk.
  • Role-model stopping or reshaping work that no longer delivers value.

Bold

  • Set clear, outcome-led direction and make decisive trade-offs at ART level.
  • Simplify governance, roles and interfaces to reduce duplication and escalation.
  • Delegate real decision authority and protect teams’ ability to move at pace.

Curious

  • Drive continuous prioritisation based on flow, outcomes and data.
  • Expect evidence-led conversations (not status updates) in the appropriate governance forums.
  • Use delivery data to inform funding, sequencing and capacity decisions.

Compassionate

  • Act as a visible advocate for client outcomes across the value stream.
  • Build psychological safety so issues are raised early rather than escalated late.
  • Balance pace with sustainability and colleague wellbeing.

Feel rewarded

For starters, we’ll offer you a comprehensive benefits package. We’ll value your wellbeing and support your development. And we’ll be as flexible as we can about where and when you work – finding a balance that works for all of us. It’s all part of our commitment to making you feel motivated by the work you do and happy to be part of our team.
