The Agricultural Trading department combines deep discretionary market expertise with modern quantitative research, technology, and data science to provide liquidity, manage risk, and identify trading opportunities across global agricultural markets. The desk has direct access to the major agricultural futures and options exchanges and is investing in the continued expansion of its systematic trading capabilities through the application of statistical modelling, alternative datasets, automation, and advanced analytics.

Role Summary
An ambitious, analytical, and highly disciplined individual joining the Agricultural Commodities trading desk in a junior front-office role. The Agricultural Trading Assistant will support the day-to-day running of the desk through reporting, position and risk monitoring, model oversight, and desk administration, while developing a detailed understanding of agricultural commodity markets and trading techniques.
The role is intended to provide a strong foundation for progression within agricultural trading, with the longer-term objective of developing the successful candidate towards proprietary trading responsibility, subject to performance, demonstrated capability, applicable approvals, and business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Run daily, weekly, and ad-hoc desk reports and maintain accurate desk records, spreadsheets, and recurring administration.
- Monitor positions, exposures, P&L, risk scans, and trading/analytical models; identify unusual movements or discrepancies and escalate promptly.
- Support trade and position reconciliation, recurring desk controls, and the preparation of position, risk, and market information.
- Monitor agricultural commodity markets and relevant fundamental drivers, including supply and demand, trade flows, seasonality, weather, crop developments, and macroeconomic factors.
- Support market analysis and trading development across futures, options, and spreads.
- Develop an understanding of trading strategies, position construction, trade planning, and trade management, taking increasing ownership of market analysis and ideas as capability develops.
- Use Bloomberg, ICE platforms, and Excel on a daily basis, and use Python, coding, and appropriate AI-enabled tools to automate processes, analyze data, and improve desk efficiency where relevant.
- Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA.
- Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role, ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
- Role model for demonstrating the highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
- At all times complying with the FCA’s/regulators Code of Conduct.
- At all times complying with Marex’s Code of Business Conduct & Ethics.
- Carrying out regulatory activities under the [Marex Financial and MSIL] trading books.
- Liaising with clients in [US, UK, France, Singapore - DELETE OR ADD COUNTRIES AS APPROPRIATE].
- To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role, or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.
- To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required.
- To escalate risk events immediately.
- To provide input to risk management processes, as required.

Skills and Experience
- Strong Excel capability is required, including confidence working with formulas, data manipulation, and analytical models.
- Demonstrable and sustained interest in financial markets and trading, supported by evidence of independent learning or market-related activity.
- Python or other coding experience is preferred; experience applying AI-enabled analytical or productivity tools is advantageous.
- Bloomberg and/or ICE platform experience, and previous exposure to commodities, derivatives, or financial market data, is advantageous.
- Evidence of sustained high performance in a demanding extracurricular pursuit may be beneficial as an indicator of discipline, resilience, competitiveness, and commitment, but is not required.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
