Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Allied Health Professional to join the Clinical Education Team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Educator (AHPs) for a six-month secondment opportunity. This is an exciting chance to contribute to the development of the AHP workforce across a large and diverse NHS organisation, supporting students, apprentices, newly qualified staff and registered practitioners.

You will work closely with other Clinical Educators and AHP Heads of Profession, you will play a key role in promoting high-quality learning environments, supporting workforce development initiatives, enhancing student placement experiences and facilitating continuing professional development opportunities for AHP staff across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and support clinical education initiatives for Allied Health Professionals across CNWL.
  • Support the development and quality assurance of AHP student placements and placement expansion activities.
  • Work collaboratively with services, Higher Education Institutions and professional leads to enhance learning opportunities for students and staff.
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of AHP preceptorship, career development and continuing professional development programmes.
  • Support workforce transformation, new roles and innovative approaches to education and training.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

We are looking for a registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with experience of supporting learning and development within clinical practice. Applicants should have experience working with multidisciplinary teams, supporting students or learners, and organising education or CPD activities. Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills are essential.

A teaching qualification, experience of placement coordination, apprenticeship programmes or clinical education leadership would be advantageous.

  • Registered Physiotherapist or OT
  • Relevant first degree

  • Post-registration Teaching Qualification
  • MSc in relevant clinical or leadership area

Previous Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of work with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of working with staff at senior level
  • Evidence of commitment to training, learning and development
  • Line management experience
  • Experience being an AHP student fieldwork educator
  • Evidence of on-going CPD
  • Experience of organising placements for student AHPs

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of formal teaching and programme planning
  • Development of the clinical learning environment
  • Experience of apprenticeships
  • Experience coordinating student placements

SKILLS And KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced clinical skills
  • Ability to work positively in a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality appropriately and understand the issues involved.
  • Ability to present formally and to produce written reports for senior staff.
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access
