AI Governance Lead | Central Government Consultancy
Location: London (Hybrid)
Rate: £700 / day (Outside IR35)
Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required
iO Associates are hiring on behalf of a leading Central Government consultancy looking for an AI Governance Lead. You'll design operational risk frameworks, shape tech policy, and guide public sector clients through emerging regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Framework Design: Build end-to-end AI risk models, oversight structures, and decision-making guidelines using established standards (NIST RMF, ISO 42001).
- Regulatory Compliance: Advise clients on international and domestic policy compliance, including high-risk AI classification and impact assessments.
- Cross-Functional Strategy: Integrate AI oversight with broader data privacy, cybersecurity, and enterprise risk initiatives.
- Client Advisory: Facilitate stakeholder workshops, mentor junior team members, and deliver practical solutions to non-technical leaders.

Key Requirements

- Security Clearance: Must hold active UK SC clearance.
- Practical experience implementing AI risk frameworks, model validation, and algorithmic impact reviews.
- Strong knowledge of global AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act), safety guidelines, and security standards (OWASP).
- Exposure to AI monitoring tools, model registries, or bias detection platforms.
- Background in management consultancy, risk advisory, or public sector digital transformation.
- Professional certifications in AI governance, data privacy, or auditing are highly desirable.
