About Atomik AM

We're Atomik AM. We’re reshaping the world of advanced manufacturing and changing the way the world thinks about materials.

Ours is a new model for manufacturing businesses. Materials-led innovation, cutting-edge chemistry and solutions-based engineering delivering responsible manufacturing and sustainable choices.

It's a conscious commitment to reducing cost, waste and adverse social impact while raising manufacturing performance.

Why This Role Exists

We’re a dynamic team of eight, building the world’s most advanced binder chemistry systems and the data infrastructure that makes them work at scale. We are at an inflection point: our binder systems are proven, our process platform is maturing, and we are now embedding AI across the full development and characterisation pipeline.

We’re looking for a Chemist with genuine AI capability to steer that embedding, and lead a transformation.

Not a chemist with a passing machine learning interest, and not a data scientist with a chemistry overlay. We’re looking for that rare combination of both.

What We're Looking For

We're professional non-conformists, advocates of responsible manufacturing, sustainability and solutions-first thinking.

Like us you are a solutions-focussed thinker and see the transformative potential of AI aligned discovery chemistry. You have a foot firmly planted in both domains and you know how to capture experimental design data to use as predictive model training, just as well as you know how to contribute directly to formulation development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’re interested in the applications of digital chemistry and have a keen sense of how the role of the chemist can be enhanced with AI augmentation. Your work will directly transform how we develop and characterise binders, and how AI enhances manufacturing more broadly.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Chemistry

  • Support formulation development and optimisation, including material selection and process parameter optimisation.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and improve new formulations
  • Develop and implement testing and characterisation protocols to ensure product performance and quality meet customer requirements
  • Support the scale-up and translation of laboratory development into real-world applications

AI and Process Intelligence

  • Identify and implement AI-enabled tools and workflows across binder development and characterisation, including experimental design (DoE), data capture, automated analysis, and predictive modelling.
  • Help the team digitise and structure experimental data to support machine learning and pattern recognition across formulation datasets
  • Develop and optimise AI-assisted protocols for routine characterisation tasks, freeing chemistry resource for higher-value experimental work
  • Continually look for ways, tools, models and methods that enhance the AI value-add to Atomik’s workflow
  • Take ownership of the Chemistry AI strategy becoming the internal lead and point of expertise.

What You'll Bring

  • Solid domain skills in two areas: Your CV shows you to be highly capable in both Chemistry (organic / inorganic) and AI (LLM’s / ML frameworks / AI-enabled data analysis for technical R&D). You’d struggle to let either go.
  • Curious and adaptable: You have genuine curiosity about our world, and a willingness to play a part in improving what we do as a company, and improving sustainable manufacturing as a whole. You’re happy to be very hands on in bringing this about.
  • Solution-focussed: You’re proactive in finding ways to blend domains, but you’re not dogmatic and feedback from the teams plays a key role in helping you define solutions.
  • Innovative, proactive and energetic. Your role will blend the day-to-day with the long-term vision. You can execute well on a task by task basis whilst building something big.
  • Self-aware, sponge mindset. You don’t have all the answers, but you’re committed to getting them. We expect you to spend your first 30 days genuinely listening and observing before forming opinions and implementing change.
