Industry Contents is a young independent publication covering how AI is changing businesses, industries and the way people work.
We’re looking for someone who can ask the right questions. A company launches an AI product. Fine. Why does it exist now? Who needs it? What was being used before? Is anyone paying for it? What becomes cheaper or easier because of it? And what happens to the companies already serving that market?
We're looking for someone with 2+ years of experience in technology/business research, journalism, consulting, data, finance or a related field. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable investigating technical products and business models independently.
What you'll work on
You’ll find, research and develop stories around AI and business. Research may involve company filings, earnings calls, product documentation, APIs, datasets, research papers, funding data and previous reporting.
- Sometimes you’ll compare several companies to understand where a market is moving.
- Sometimes you’ll start with a claim and discover that the evidence doesn’t support it.

Skills & Requirements
- Strong understanding of AI, SaaS, APIs, AI agents and enterprise technology
- Strong primary-source research and verification, including technical documentation, research papers, filings, earnings calls and datasets
- Commercial and market analysis, including business models, pricing, competitors, unit economics, market structure and company strategy
- Strong data literacy
- Strong analytical writing in English, particularly the ability to make complex technical and commercial subjects understandable without oversimplifying them
- Comfortable using AI research tools while independently verifying their outputs
Bonus: Python, SQL, GitHub, financial statements, company filings or data visualisation
Compensation
This is a paid freelance contributor role, with rates of €100-€200 per commissioned article, depending on the research, complexity and scope involved. We don’t commission by word count, although most pieces will be 1,200 words or more because of the depth of research involved. The fee is agreed before each commission. There is potential for regular work if it’s a good fit and your articles perform well.

About Industry Contents
Industry Contents is still early. We’re building it around independent, evidence-led analysis of AI and business: understanding what is actually changing rather than documenting what companies say is changing. Contributors will have room to pitch their own questions, develop areas of expertise and help shape what we investigate.
