AI Architect - SDLC Centre of Excellence

Location: Hybrid - Leeds (2-3 days per week)
Employment type: Contract
Day rate: £500 per day (outside IR35)

Our client is a technology services partner working jointly with a UK public sector customer to run an AI Centre of Excellence. The CoE has been up and running for a few months, the foundations are in place, and the focus now is on accelerating delivery and finding new use cases.

What you'll be doing as an AI Architect

  • Owning the AI roadmap for the software delivery lifecycle and turning it into a plan the team can deliver
  • Identifying and delivering new AI use cases, starting with quick wins and potentially extending into business and operations functions
  • Setting technical and architectural direction, working hands-on alongside the team
  • Leading and energising a small, distributed CoE team
  • Building trust with customer stakeholders and keeping the roadmap aligned to their priorities

  • Hands-on delivery of AI solutions, ideally applied to software engineering
  • Solution or technical architecture experience, with AWS a strong plus
  • Experience leading a client-facing team or Centre of Excellence
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, high-energy approach
  • UK public sector experience preferred, but not essential
