AI Engineer — Engineering Productivity & SDLC Automation
Location: Hybrid — 2-3 days/week from our Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Macclesfield (Alderley Park) office
Type: 6-months Contract
We're looking for an AI Engineer to help us apply AI across the software development lifecycle — from writing requirements to catching issues in production. This isn't a chatbot role. You'll be building tools that generate user stories and acceptance criteria, turn Figma designs into working code, review pull requests, write tests, and help flag incidents before they become outages.
What you'd be doing:
- Requirements and product intelligence
- Building AI assistants that take rough business asks and turn them into structured, Jira/ADO-ready user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases, and that flag missing information or risks early.
- Design-to-code
- Building workflows that read Figma wireframes and generate frontend and backend code, so design and development stay in sync.
- Developer tooling
- Building AI coding assistants and GitHub integrations that help with code generation, review, refactoring suggestions, and PR creation.
- Testing
- Building AI workflows that generate unit, integration, and regression tests, plus UI automation with tools like Playwright.
- DevOps and SRE
- Applying AI to log analysis, anomaly detection, incident correlation, and root cause analysis, wired into CI/CD and observability.

What we're looking for:
- 10+ years overall software engineering experience, including 5-6 years specifically working as an AI engineer
- Solid background in Python and modern application development
- Hands-on work with LLMs — prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, AI agents
- Experience integrating AI into GitHub, Jira, CI/CD, and cloud platforms
- Working knowledge of testing, DevOps, observability, and SRE practices
- Based within commuting distance of Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Macclesfield (Alderley Park), or willing to relocate
