AI Automation Engineer

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Brighton, Sussex (Hybrid - 1 day onsite per week)

Salary: £45,000 - £75,000 (Depending on Experience)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AI Automation Engineer to join a growing Intelligent Automation and Process Engineering function within a major UK organisation.

This is a newly developing capability focused on using AI, Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Power Platform to transform how work is delivered across the organisation.

  • Design and deliver automation solutions that improve business processes, create efficiencies and enhance experiences for both customers and colleagues.
  • Work with emerging AI technologies while helping establish best practice, governance and standards across a growing automation ecosystem.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and develop AI-powered automation solutions across Microsoft 365.
  • Build workflows, applications and integrations using Power Platform.
  • Develop solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps and Power Pages.
  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Agents to deliver intelligent automation.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Design secure, scalable and supportable automation solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across automation solutions.
  • Contribute to governance, standards, documentation and best practice.
  • Support the adoption and continuous improvement of AI and automation capabilities.
  • Stay up to date with emerging AI and automation technologies.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Commercial experience developing automation solutions within Microsoft 365.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Power Automate, including Cloud and/or Desktop.
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Pages.
  • Experience working with Copilot Agents, Microsoft Copilot or similar AI-enabled automation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of workflow design, automation and system integration.
  • Understanding of security and governance principles, including DLP, RBAC and identity management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle practices, including testing, CI/CD and technical documentation.

Please note: This role is focused on Microsoft 365 and Power Platform automation rather than Dynamics 365.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Copilot Studio and AI-enabled automation.
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications such as PL-100, PL-200 or PL-400.
  • Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AI-900 or AZ-204.
  • API-led integration or event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with Alteryx or other data-driven automation tools.
  • Exposure to platforms such as ServiceNow, SAP or GIS.
  • Experience contributing to automation governance, standards or platform adoption.
  • A strong interest in emerging AI technologies and digital transformation.
