AI Automation Engineer
We're looking for an AI Automation Engineer for a contract role designing and building AI-powered workflows and agents that automate manual, repetitive and data-heavy business processes. You'll combine software engineering, integration and LLM skills to find automation opportunities, deliver them into production and measure the time and cost savings.
Location: London, UK
Day rate: £750–£850 per day (IR35 status to be confirmed)
Contract: Initial 6–12 months, likely extension
What you'll do:
- Work with business stakeholders to identify and prioritise automation opportunities with clear ROI
- Build end-to-end automated workflows using LLM APIs, orchestration tools and custom code
- Develop AI agents and multi-step workflows, including tool use, RAG, document extraction and classification
- Integrate automations with business systems such as CRM, ATS, HRIS, ERP, Slack/Teams and Microsoft 365
- Build workflows on platforms such as n8n, Make, Zapier or Power Automate, alongside Python or TypeScript
- Implement guardrails, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, evaluation and monitoring
- Handle sensitive data safely in line with UK GDPR

What you'll bring:
- 3–5 years' experience in software engineering, automation, integration or data/AI engineering
- Proven experience deploying LLM-based solutions in a live business setting
- Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills, with REST API and webhook integration experience
- Hands-on experience with at least one workflow automation platform
- Working knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases and agent patterns
- Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders
- Right to work in the UK
