Capital Markets AI Business Analyst / Use Case Consultant
Oliver James is working with a Financial Services client to identify a Capital Markets AI Business Analyst / Use Case Consultant for an initial discovery and MVP-shaping engagement.
The role will support a senior markets and technology team as they define practical AI-enabled use cases across trading insight, client behaviour, reporting automation, analytics and operational decision support.
This is a hands-on consulting role. You will help translate complex front-office and markets-led business problems into clear use cases, requirements, process maps, data questions and delivery-ready outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Running discovery sessions with business, product, analytics, data and technology stakeholders;
- Capturing current-state workflows across trading insight, MI/BI, reporting and analytical processes;
- Documenting high-value AI/data use cases and prioritising them against business value, feasibility and governance requirements;
- Gathering examples of current dashboards, reports, insight packs, tools and manual analysis;
- Defining business requirements for AI-assisted reporting, client insight, metric monitoring or trading analytics;
- Supporting the creation of an MVP backlog, user stories, acceptance criteria and validation requirements;
- Helping ensure outputs are practical, controlled, auditable and suitable for a regulated financial markets environment.

Relevant Experience
- Business analysis or consulting within capital markets, trading or financial services;
- Front-office trading, execution, liquidity, order flow, market data or client behaviour;
- BI, MI, dashboards, reporting, analytics or insight-pack development;
- SQL, Python, Snowflake, Oracle, Business Objects or similar data/reporting environments;
- AI-assisted reporting, analytics automation, use-case discovery or data-led transformation;
- QA, testing, controls, governance, operational risk or business process assurance.

We are looking for someone who can sit confidently between business and technology teams, ask good questions, structure ambiguity and turn early-stage AI ideas into tangible consulting outputs.
This would suit a capital markets business analyst, data analyst, delivery consultant or AI/data transformation consultant with strong analytical judgement and experience in complex regulated environments.
