Role: AI Business Analyst
Programme: Trading Exchange
Industry: Energy Trading
Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days per week)
Contract: 6 month initial (multi-year scope)
Rate: £700-850/d inside IR35
X4 Technology are partnered with a global energy trading firm on a major transformation of its commodities trading exchange - connecting physical crude oil and refined petroleum products across global trading desks, external commercial partners, clearing houses and third-party logistics providers.
They're offering the opportunity for an experienced AI Business Analyst to shape and pioneer LLM and GenAI solutions across their trading exchange estate. This is a genuinely greenfield environment, joining at an early stage of their AI journey, with scope to identify high-value use cases across complex trading workflows and turn those into tangible, scalable products.

Working closely with AI Engineers, Product, IT and senior business stakeholders, you’ll bridge the gap between business and technology - defining AI use cases, translating business needs into clear requirements and shaping solutions that can deliver genuine value across the trading lifecycle.
Requirements for the AI Business Analyst:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst delivering AI/LLM/GenAI projects in a real-world trading environments - ideally energy trading specifically
- Strong understanding of LLM use cases, AI capabilities and the AI product lifecycle
- Experience translating business requirements into AI/LLM solutions and working closely with AI Engineers/technical teams
- Strong broader commodities or financial trading experience
- Proven ability to identify high-value AI opportunities and turn business problems into practical, scalable solutions

2 stage interview process, with slots available W/C 10th August. 6 month initial contract with multiyear scope - X4 have placed 160+ contractors with the client to date, many of whom have been extended 3-4+ years on similarly long-term programmes.
