Role: AI Business Analyst

Programme: AI Trading Transformation

Industry: Energy Trading

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days per week)

Contract: 6 month initial (multi-year scope)

Rate: £700-800/d inside IR35

X4 Technology are partnered with an energy trading firm on a major AI transformation programme, with growing investment into AI-enabled products across its oil trading arm.

They're looking for a highly experienced AI Business Analyst to join at an early stage of their AI journey and help shape how AI, GenAI and LLM capabilities are embedded across complex commodities trading workflows.

This is a genuinely greenfield opportunity. There is currently no established AI BA function within the team, meaning you'll have significant scope to define the approach, identify high-value use cases and establish how AI products are discovered, designed and delivered across the trading environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
