Job Advert - AI & Business Process Improvement Placement / Graduate Intern
Location: Alitex Ltd, Torberry Farm, South Harting, Hampshire
Duration: 9-12-month placement (flexible for the right candidate)
Type: Paid Placement / Graduate Internship
Start date: Flexible
Alitex designs and manufactures beautiful Victorian greenhouses for customers across the UK and overseas. We are looking for one or two bright, curious and practical graduates or placement students to help us explore how AI and digital tools can improve the way we work.
This is not a theoretical AI role. It’s a hands-on business improvement project.
You will spend time understanding how Alitex operates from marketing & sales, through design, production, project management, finance, and customer service. Your goal is to identify opportunities to reduce repetitive work, improve information flow, and make everyday processes quicker, clearer, and more reliable.
You will need to be sufficiently curious and courageous to ask questions and challenge habits and then have the capability to test tools and build simple working solutions.

The work may include:
- Mapping current business processes and identifying bottlenecks
- Finding repetitive, manual or low-value tasks that could be improved
- Experimenting with AI tools, automation and better use of existing software
- Helping teams improve document handling, reporting, data entry, and internal communication
- Creating simple prototypes, workflows, prompts, templates, or dashboards
- Testing ideas with real users and refining them
- Presenting clear recommendations to managers and directors
We are looking for someone who is:
- Business-minded, curious, and practical
- Comfortable with technology and keen to learn more about AI
- Able to listen carefully and understand how people actually work
- Confident enough to ask good questions and challenge gently
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to turn ideas into action
- Clear in written and spoken communication
- Interested in making a real difference inside a real business
You do not need to be a software engineer, although coding, data, automation, or systems experience would be useful. More important is the ability to combine common sense, commercial awareness, and digital confidence.

This role would suit a student or recent graduate in business, management, operations, computer science, data, engineering, information systems, product design, innovation, or a related subject.
