The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established and successful UK business embarking on an ambitious programme of AI, automation and technology transformation.
This is a unique opportunity for a technically minded professional who enjoys working at the intersection of software development, Artificial Intelligence, business systems and commercial improvement.
This is not a conventional software development role, nor is it an IT support position.
You'll work closely with senior leadership and the company's lead systems architect to understand how the business operates, identify opportunities for improvement and develop technology solutions that deliver genuine business value.
Initially, you'll focus on understanding and enhancing the company's existing systems. Over time, you'll play an increasingly important role in developing new technology, automation and AI solutions across areas including operations, finance, marketing, customer service and business administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance internal business systems and applications.
- Design and build AI-powered solutions to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes using AI and modern technologies.
- Work alongside the lead systems architect to understand, maintain and develop existing platforms.
- Design and develop new functionality using appropriate technologies.
- Work directly with business users to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Analyse business processes and recommend improvements.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to solve real-world business problems.
- Utilise AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude effectively throughout your development and problem-solving work.
- Produce clear technical documentation, technical designs and business recommendations.
- Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Take ownership of projects and work independently where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
