Overview

We are looking for an AI Compliance & Security Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen on a permanent basis.

The AI Compliance & Security Engineer will play a key role in supporting Subsea7's AI strategy by helping establish a secure, compliant, and well-governed AI environment. The role requires a keen willingness to learn and evaluate emerging AI technologies, for example Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, translating that knowledge into practical governance, security, and risk management controls.

Working closely with IT, Security, Legal, Data, and business teams, the individual will help define and maintain AI guardrails, policies, standards, and approved usage patterns. They will assess new AI capabilities, identify security, privacy, compliance, and operational risks, and proactively highlight gaps in functionality, controls, or organisational readiness. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as the role will act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are adopted safely, responsibly, and effectively across Subsea7.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls across AI platforms, cloud services, enterprise applications, and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, secure, and monitor AI solutions, including Generative AI, machine learning platforms, and AI-enabled business applications.
  • Develop and automate security processes, detections, and response capabilities using AI and security orchestration technologies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with AI adoption, including data leakage.
  • Work closely with data, software engineering, and cloud teams to embed security into AI development and deployment lifecycles.
  • Support the Information Security Manager and collaborate with technical teams across the organisation.
  • Provide technical security guidance for AI initiatives.
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modelling, and architecture reviews for AI and technology solutions.
  • Monitor threat intelligence, emerging vulnerabilities, and developments within the AI threat landscape, recommending appropriate remediation activities.
  • Support security incident investigations, including incidents involving AI systems, and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support compliance and audit activities related to cybersecurity, data protection, and AI governance requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
