Summary of the Role
EXL is seeking an experienced AI Consulting & Solutioning Lead – Insurance to join EXL Digital and help drive the growth of our Digital Transformation business across the UK and EMEA. This is a senior, client-facing consulting and growth role requiring strong domain experience within the Insurance sector, combined with expertise in AI, data, digital transformation, and technology-led consulting.
We are looking for someone who understands the insurance industry, its business models, operating environments, value chains, and transformation priorities, and can translate that domain knowledge into high-value digital and AI-enabled solutions for clients. The successful candidate will engage with senior business and technology stakeholders across the Insurance ecosystem, acting as a trusted advisor to identify transformation opportunities, understand complex business challenges, and shape solutions that deliver measurable commercial and operational value.
You will lead opportunities from origination and client discovery through consulting, solution design, commercial shaping, and closure, bringing together multidisciplinary teams across AI, Data, Digital Engineering, Architecture, and Delivery. You will represent EXL’s broader portfolio of data- and AI-led transformation capabilities while ensuring solutions are grounded in the specific needs and priorities of Insurance clients.
You will also lead strategic digital transformation engagements, including maturity assessments, transformation strategy, target-state blueprinting, technology and AI roadmaps, and implementation prioritisation, helping Insurance clients move from transformation ambition through to execution.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
- Lead Digital growth across UK/EMEA markets, with a strong focus on the Insurance sector.
- Define and implement go-to-market strategy for Digital within Insurance.
- Lead opportunity identification, progression, solutioning, and closure.
- Represent the full portfolio of EXL’s data-, AI- and digital-led transformation solutions and products.
- Proactively drive pipeline volume and velocity across target Insurance accounts and markets.
- Consultatively engage with clients to identify transformation opportunities, shape deals, and convert opportunities.
- Collaborate across service lines and business unit teams to originate and shape new opportunities.
- Develop and articulate the business and economic value of proposed solutions.
- Research new market opportunities across target Insurance segments and capability areas, identifying higher-margin, transformation, and outcome-linked opportunities.
- Develop a strong network of contacts across existing and prospective Insurance clients to identify new opportunities, buying centres, and areas for account expansion.

Insurance Digital Transformation Consulting
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the Insurance sector on the application of AI, GenAI, data, automation, and digital technologies.
- Understand clients’ business objectives, operating models, and challenges to define transformation strategies and tailor solutions.
- Identify opportunities to transform areas such as underwriting, claims, policy administration, distribution, pricing, customer experience, operations, and risk through data, AI, and digital capabilities.
- Lead digital maturity assessments, target-state blueprinting, and prioritisation of implementation roadmaps.
- Shape AI and data-led solutions that improve operational efficiency, decision-making, customer outcomes, and commercial performance.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with Insurance industry best practices.
- Support clients in managing the organisational and operational change associated with digital transformation.
- Develop strategies to support the successful adoption of new technologies, processes, and ways of working.
P&L Ownership
- Own the P&L of Digital Transformation engagements across target Insurance accounts and service lines.
- Create and drive revenue projections based on existing pipeline, account expansion, and new pursuits.
- Develop and manage budgets for digital transformation projects.
- Be accountable for the financial performance of digital projects and initiatives.
- Develop and implement pricing strategies for digital services and solutions, ensuring they are commercially competitive and aligned with market expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Insurance Domain Experience
- Strong professional experience within the Insurance sector, gained through consulting, technology services, and/or industry roles.
- Demonstrable understanding of the Insurance industry landscape, business models, operating models, value chains, and key transformation priorities.
- Strong knowledge of core Insurance functions and processes, which may include underwriting, claims, policy administration, pricing, distribution, customer servicing, operations, and risk.
- Experience advising Insurance clients on digital, data, AI, and/or technology-led transformation.
- Established credibility engaging with senior business and technology stakeholders within Insurance, with the ability to connect industry challenges to practical transformation solutions.
- Proven experience identifying, shaping, and progressing complex consulting and technology opportunities within the Insurance sector.
- Strong understanding of how AI, GenAI, data, analytics, automation, and digital technologies can be applied across the Insurance value chain to improve decision-making, operational performance, customer outcomes, and business value.
- Experience developing and shaping transformation propositions and business cases for Insurance clients.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary solutioning teams across consulting, architecture, engineering, data, AI, and delivery.
- Strong commercial capability, with experience contributing to pipeline development, revenue growth, deal conversion, and account expansion.
