About the role
Fund Boards Council (FBC) is a UK specialist in fund governance and a certified B Corp. We work with fund boards and their management companies, and we’re building a new in-house benchmarking programme to help member firms see how their governance compares across the industry.
This is a brand-new role built around data and AI. We need someone who really understands data: someone with sharp attention to detail, who spots when something doesn’t look right and uses AI tools confidently and safely to interrogate data and generate accurate, useful outputs. We take the security of our members’ data extremely seriously and so it is imperative that you are proficient in secure data analytics good practice, working with anonymised data and ensuring outputs are accurate and confidential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll proactively identify patterns, connections and potential narratives across datasets — asking, for example, whether firms doing one thing also tend to do another, and whether that connection is meaningful. You’ll help us explore what these insights could mean for members and shape how we use the data as the benchmarking programme grows and more firms contribute. You’ll also help us establish our new data platform.
What we’re looking for
- Very strong, current AI and large language model (LLM) skills for working with data — our most important requirement.
- Excellent attention to detail, including checking data quality and maintaining confidentiality and validating AI-generated outputs.
- A curious, analytical mindset: proactively spotting connections, testing interpretations and identifying useful insights for members.
- Solid data analysis skills, including SQL and data modelling, or the ability to learn these quickly.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with a BI tool such as Power BI.
- GDPR awareness, particularly when using AI tools and handling confidential data.
- A self-starter who is comfortable taking ownership in a small team.
